Acrobat Reader is a free product; many already have it installed, or you can download it for free from the Adobe.
However, in order to produce PDF files a specific product, such as ADOBE ACROBAT, is usually needed. This can run you over a couple hundred dollars.
progeCAD 2010 Professional automatically adds a virtual printer which can produce PDF files without the need to own ADOBE ACROBAT.
The PDF file’s parameters can easily configured to output with layers, colors, etc.
Drawings can be exported to create a Layered PDF with the same Layer schema as your DWG. This allows much more freedom and less rework when utilizing the PDF files throughout the design process, as you will see a little later.

Give When it is Needed
When Hurricane Katrina left a wide swath of destruction in the south of the United States it left many thousands homeless, missing or dead, with survivors clinging to rooftops and on overpasses wondering if they would be rescued soon, or perish in the elements and from starvation or dehydration. progeSOFT did what they could and offered progeCAD free to victims to help with rebuilding the states affected. There were not many takers. Which isn't surprising given the tasks that lay ahead. Rebuilding is not something one thinks about when wondering how he is going to feed his family, or get to dry land.
A Special Man, A Special Moment
One survivor of Katrina contacted progeSOFT North America in the fall of 2009, almost 5 years after the disaster, to request help after reading about the donations through a press release progeSOFT had distributed at the time of the disaster. This man had lost his home, his business, and almost his life in the storm.
One step forward, three steps back...
He had been rebuilding his life and home and had been through a trying time trying to meet all the demands being made on his time, money, and sanity. He was down to his last hope having reduced his savings to almost nothing when he asked for our help. He needed to create the plans to lift his home 15 feet in the air to meet federal guidelines developed after the storm.
A Small Gesture, A Large Gift?
progeSOFT was more than ready to help. A copy of both progeEARTH, the civil survey software, and progeCAD, general purpose CAD application, was donated to help the man finish the design for the home lift. At almost the same time, progeSOFT North America was contacted by the University of New Orleans. They were inquiring about the free for schools program hoping to help their underfunded University outfit their design school. All copies of the AutoCAD program they had invested in before the storm had been destroyed by the storm and would not be replaced by the manufacturer.
Courage, Fortitude, and Bravery Acknowledged
As gesture to the Katrina Survivor, to acknowledge the bravery and perseverance through his trials of adversity, progeSOFT North America, through iCADsales.com's founder, donated a corporate license to the University of New Orleans in the name of the survivor and his family. His outpouring of gratitude caused everyone involved with the gift to feel a little uncomfortable since to us it was not a huge gift, but for him, it was the first unselfish gesture since those first days of the disaster. It helped him to regain his sense of humanity and warmth towards his brother man.
